In August I went over to Duesseldorf, Germany to take part in this years 40 Grad Urban Art Festival. We had a great location, two abandoned office buildings that are about to be torn down were opened for the artists to paint. I got offered to paint an entire room, which I enjoyed very much.  I painted 4 different pieces that deal with our relationship with water. The  most memorable one was ‘Styx (the Ferryman of the EU)’, where I painted the ferryman in an unstable dingy waving the European flag. In the floor I positioned a hand and the head of a drowning man. The painting relates to the current situation in the Mediterranean were people still die trying to reach Europe while politicians talk about tightening Europe’s borders, as if this would solve the problem.

Below are the links to the individual pieces and the videos I made while painting them.
