Recently, we installed a new artwork, visualizing the UN's SDG-8 "Sustainable growth and decent work". The motive was developed as a commissioned work for Hamburg's NGO Global Goals. More about this project can be found here and an in-depth analysis in this podcast (German).
Short summary: "When thinking about economic growth, one buzzword comes into mind, which is used as an excuse/explanation for any economical decision “wealth”. According to (Western) politicians, wealth only can be guaranteed by eternal economic growth. However, we argue that wealth incorporates all those achievements, that are sacrificed in the name of economic growth: safe working conditions, environmental protection, education, affordable living, health, happiness, democracy, etc,
Thus, we created an artwork disagreeing with SDG8 and the praise of GDP in general. This work is multilayered, touching subjects as circular economy, religion (neo-Catholicism), crypto, climate crisis etc. However, the central aspect remains, chasing the GDP sacrifices our wealth."
