Happy Birthday USA! USA! USA!
Pünktlich zum 250 Geburtstag der Vereinigten Staaten, der ältesten „Demokratie“ der Welt, sind in Hamburg und Bremen Poster des Künstlerduos LAPIZ und Elmar Karla aufgetaucht. Anlässlich politischer und gesellschaftlicher Entwicklungen in den USA entstand dieses offizielle Plakat der Fifa Freedom Games. Als Inspiration diente das offizielle Plakat der Olympischen Spiele in Berlin 1936, welches das IOC kürzlich in T-Shirt Form wieder zum Verkauf anbot.
Über die Künstler:
LAPIZ hat sich auf großflächige Stencilkunst spezialisiert. Elmar Karla ist Maler und Illustrator. Zusammen bilden sie das Thea Lang Collective, dass sich mit aktuellen gesellschaftlichen und politischen Fragen durch öffentliche Interventionen und Ausstellungen auseinandersetzt.

Happy Birthday USA! USA! USA!
Just in time for the 250th anniversary of the oldest “democracy” in the world, posters of the artist duo LAPIZ and Elmar Karla emerged in Hamburg and Bremen. Dealing with current political and social developments in the US, this official poster of the Fifa Freedom Games was created. The artists were inspired by the official poster of the Berlin 1936th Olympic games, which recently has been distributed as Tee Shirt prints by the IOC.
About the artists:
In 2018 the artists Elmar Karla and LAPIZ founded the Thealang Collective (TLC). Elmar Karla is a trained painter drawing inspiration from comics and is known for his ‘Homeless Heroes’ series. LAPIZ on the other hand is a self-trained street artist painting huge socio-critical stencils. TLC allows them to combine their very different styles to create powerful works of art that are critical reflections of today’s issues.
