A woman holding her newborn that apparently has been affected by a Zika-Virus infection. This motive has been taken from a mural painted for Meeting of Styles in 2016 called ‘NTD-Olympics (Rio2016)’. Zika-Virus is causing a so-called neglected tropical disease (NTD). These are infections common in low-income populations. What makes them be called neglect is the fact that could be controlled or even eliminated but it lacks the political will of the global community to do so. Another part of the mural, a woman with ‘Elephantiasis’, has recently been pasted in New Zealand.
The location of ‘Zika’ has been chosen deliberately, a bit hidden away but right in front of the Vaccination Center in Hamburg.
