Watch me paint an anamorphic stencil. Anamorphic means that it only looks correct from one point, from all the others it looks kind of skewed (at the end of the video, the kid seems to be sitting upright). I used this technique to paint “around-the-corner”. I wanted to paint a girl dancing in the rain, but when you look further up you see that the rain is being poured out of a toxic tank by another kid. The most difficult part was to figure out how to design the stencil so it would work, however, painting overhead onto a ceiling is not that easy either when the different layers have to match up. I was not sure if it would work until the end. I painted this during the 40 Grad Urban Art Festival in Duesseldorf.
