A few months ago, I got asked by Deutsch Bahn (the German Railway) to redesign the Veddel Metro Station. Every train coming/going to the South has to pass this station, so it is a very prominent structure. On the other hand, the Veddel is one of the poorest parts in Hamburg and apart from the emigration museum and a controversial golden-plated house, there is not much to see or do there.  I therefore, wanted to create something that triggers some curiosity when seen from afar, so people consider stopping by. Also, I think it is very important to involve the community for such a large project, in the end it is “their” station and it crucial that people can connect to what they see.

For that reason I created the “Faces of Veddel” representing the people of the quarter, more about the project here.
