Recently, I finished painting my mural “Maslow 3.0” at the Candidplatz in Munich, Germany. The event was organised by Muca (Museum for urban and contemporary art) Munich who made a huge effort to make this exciting project happen. I also find myself in great company, next to artists such as Herakut, Case MaClaim and Sebastian Wandl who was painting right next to me. A big thank you to MUCA for all of that effort!
The motive is called “Maslow 3.0” and shows a re-interpretation of Maslow’s pyramide of personal needs. Instead of basic motives of self-motivation (such as shelter, food etc), those of self-presentation are shown. At the bottom of the pyramid sit 3 young men, that have recently graduated from school (ca. 1900). On their shoulders stand two Charlston dancers, showing off their moves to the camera (1920/30). The hippies from the 1960ies do not care nor realise that a picture is taken. The girl on the top finally seems to be documenting only herself. In the end the act of taking a picture has become its reason. I take a picture, therefore I am.
