A halftone print gives you the illusion of looking at a grey-and-white picture, even though the picture is made only of black dots (much like the photos in old newspapers).  Each dot has the same space available but as its size differs so does the  proportion of white and black. With increased distance our eyes merge these differences into shades of grey.

The quote “I think we are all blind. We are blind people that can see but that  do not look” is taken from Jose Saramago’s novel ‘Blindness’. Even though we  might see other people, the problems, suffering and destruction, we often fail  to perceive them. Just like a halftone, you have to look closely in order to truly recognize and see its parts.
